CSense is about to embark on an Automated Statistical Monitoring & Control project at BHP Billiton’s Worsley Alumina in Australia. This will comprise initial set-up, training and deployment of the CSense product suite for this purpose.

CSense fast-tracks process improvement in the Rolling Plant. Saldanha Steel, part of the ArcelorMittal group, produces steel for niche markets with specific quality requirements. The plant has an annual output of about 1.2 Mt. The company has embarked on a Six Sigma continuous improvement drive that included, among other things, the implementation of CSense. The application helps eliminate production problems by analysing plant data in real time and determining the probable causes at the Iron making plant.

Nedzink is able to decrease the number of zinc blocks produced which have unsatisfactory RP strength by using CSense Rapid Process Troubleshooting.

Umicore used CSense’s Rapid Process Troubleshooting software to rapidly achieve the following in their Hoboken plant in the copper electrowinning process.

CSense Cause+ is specifically geared towards supporting the production or manufacturing engineer or process specialist in generating real-time causes for process deviations and giving the operator appropriate actionable messages at the same time. In this way, in-depth process knowledge can be made available to operators in real-time to specifically guide them during problematic times when deviations occur in KPIs such as throughput, yield, quality, and product grade.

Industrial intelligence can no longer be described as an added benefit, but rather as a requirement for successful operations. For this reason, Crusader Systems, of Pretoria, and Johannesburg-based Futuristix have established a mutually-benefiting relationship by integrating their product offerings providing pro-cess troubleshooting solutions.

In its continuing quest to provide the SA industrial automation industry with increasingly comprehensive solutions, Futuristix has signed an agreement with Crusader Systems, the creators of CSense for Wonderware.

The engineering design category award, as well as the Chairman's Award for the most exceptional entry, of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Design Institute Awards 2000, were won by FrothMaster™, a measuring and control instrument for the mining industry designed by Crusader Systems Pty Ltd.
